Every year after Fiesta Hispana, Frank Alfano treats the Centro staff and board to pasta on the board at Rosario's on Monona Drive. It is quite an experience as you can see from the pictures.
La Pen~a
Centro Hispano and Community Action on Latin America organized the first of many Pen~as on Friday August 8th at Centro Hispano. Over 60 people attended and 4 groups performed including Nueva Cancion, Sonidos Suaves, Grace Episcopal Church's Latin Music Ensemble and Son Mudanza. The event was such a huge success that we are already planning the next Pen~a which should take place in early September.
The event was made super special by wonderful coffee from our friends at Just Coffee. We were treated to the limited edition Hermanitas Blend which is a special fund raising blend for the Dane-Andres Eloy Blanco Sistering Alliance (DASA), our new sister County in Venezuela. The Venezuelan Consulate from Chicago attended the event and shared some words of goodwill. We also had some fantastic pan dulce from Panaderia Sacramento.
